That’s why it’s so critical to speak with an unbiased radiant heating expert who can offer you a wide selection of reputable floor heating options to choose from. Deal with an industry leader that can show you a wide selection of radiant floor heating solutions and explain the benefits and traits of each one.

Heating Tile Floors
The most proven system for heating tile floors is the ComfortTile floor heating system. ComfortTile features thin 1/8 to 3/16-inch diameter heat cable that is available on spools or pre-spaced on flexible fiberglass mesh backing with adhesive so it can be rolled out and then secured to the subfloor for easy installation. ComfortTile heat cable is also one of the most versatile floor heating systems.

ComfortTile heat cable can also be used in conjunction with the Prodeso membrane. The underlayment membrane is placed over the subfloor and the heat cable is installed in the pre-engineered channels provided by the series of reliefs. The floor surface is then installed over the membrane and cable.

Heating Hardwood and Laminate Floors
Many homes in New England feature hardwood or laminate flooring. Warmzone offers several choices for heating hardwood and laminate, but the most popular solution is the low-voltage FloorHeat STEP system.

This unique floor heating system features a self-regulating, semi-conductive polyethylene heating element. Because the flexible heating element is so thin, it won’t affect the floor buildup, weight loads, or your choice of flooring.

Heated hardwood floor

The unique attributes of FloorHeat STEP make this versatile heating element a popular choice for heating roofs as well. RoofHeat STEP is one of the most trusted roof heating systems available. (Learn more about heating hardwood floors. and tips for Installing Heated Floors.

Heating Concrete Underfloor Slabs
The In-Slab radiant floor heating cable is designed for installation in new concrete slab applications. The heat cable is embedded at least ½-inch below the floor’s surface. In-Slab cable uses the concrete slab to efficiently store and distribute heat evenly throughout the intended area. The cable is affordable and can be installed to warm any type of flooring, including hardwood, carpet, tile, and more.

Heating Existing Floors
Warmzone also carries RetroHeat, a thin “film” heating element that can be stapled up between floor joists to heat existing floors. The paper-thin heating element can be cut on site and is then stapled up between the floor joists and common Batt insulation is then installed over the heating panel. This directs all the heat upwards to warm the existing floor.

These are just some of the choices Boston residents have to heat their floors. Whether you’re looking to heat carpet, tile, marble, hardwood or any other type of floor, you won’t go wrong dealing with Warmzone.

The WS-2C – A New Standard for Aerial-Mount Snow Sensors

New Features Added to the Industry Leading Aerial-Mount Snow Sensor

Warmzone snow melting systems continue to set the gold standard for the radiant heat industry. In addition to the recent enhancements to its industry leading heat cable, Warmzone has also added some performance enhancing features to its state-of-the-art WS-2 snow sensor, resulting in the WS-2C aerial mount snow switch.

Aerial mount snow sensor

The WS-2C snow switch is a culmination of Warmzone research and feedback from experienced installation professionals. Some of the features of the improved snow sensor include:

Universal Input Power Supply (Auto Select Input Voltage)—The universal power supply auto selects the input voltage (100v to 277v AC). This simplifies the installation process and eliminates the need to install voltage jumpers (to select the operating voltage).

Sensitivity Control—Climates vary geographically, so it stands to reason that the conditions leading up to a precipitation event (like a snow storm) will vary too. Warmzone units allow for greater calibration of your snow melting system. The WS-2C aerial-mount snow sensor features unmatched sensitivity control, giving you the optimal customized snow removal solution. The advanced sensor can be programmed for specific conditions to help eliminate false trips, ultimately saving on energy costs.

Increased After-run Delay— Warmzone snow melting systems are designed to remain on for a short period after the storm to prevent the melted snow from turning into ice. The WS-2C offers run delay times of 30-90 minutes, and 2-6 hours. The “delay off” time can be adjusted by using the DELAY ADJUST control.

Power Indicator Light – Indicates when the sensor is powered AND when it is activated.

Redesigned Case – Greatly reduces the chances of warping the cover due to over tightening of the screws.

One of the main reasons Warmzone attracts and retains so many repeat customers is a refusal to stop at “good enough” when it comes to radiant heat solutions. Warmzone professionals make it a point to immerse themselves in all things radiant heat related, keeping an ear to the ground when it comes to the latest and greatest in snow melting technology. They take time to speak with installers on the front lines to find out what’s working and what isn’t, so you receive the most advanced snow melting technologies available.

It’s this passion to be the best of the best, to provide customers with the most advanced, efficient snow melting solutions, that has made Warmzone an industry leader for more than a decade. Efficient Heat for Your Tile Floor

The Best Solution for Heating Tile Floors

The ComfortTile floor heating system is one of the most popular radiant floor heating options on the market. Compatible with all standard sub-flooring materials, ComfortTile floor heating systems offer the premium performance expected from the industry leader.

Floor heating cable in mats under tile
ComfortTile floor heating cable (in mat) show underneath tile. Thinset can be applied directly over the heating cable, resulting in easy installation and efficient heated tile floors.

The systems are easily installed under all types of floor surfaces to provide comfortable, even floor heat. CT radiant floor heating systems provide efficient room heating and reduce the transmission of dust, allergens and other airborne particulate matter associated with forced air systems.

Heating Element

The heating element consists of heat cable on the spool or pre-spaced and woven into an adhesive-backed fiberglass mesh, depending on your preference. The floor warming mats are pre-terminated for use with 120 and 240V, and are available in various lengths (24-inch width). While both cable systems are easy to install, the cable off the spool is particularly convenient for custom shaped floor heating projects.

Thermostat

The Warmzone ComfortTile electronic thermostats are specifically designed to control electric radiant floor heating systems for maximum comfort while minimizing power consumption. Each thermostat also includes an integrated Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI, Class A).

The Many Options of Radiant Heat

Radiant Heat Isn’t Just for Heated Driveways

Maybe you’ve put your shovel down already by treating yourself to a radiant heated driveway system. But the benefits of radiant heat aren’t limited to heated driveways and sidewalks. When it comes to radiant heat, Warmzone’s got you covered from your head to your feet.

Heated driveway in concrete

Have you ever walked out of your home on a snowy day to be greeted by large, heavy icicles or the drip of melting snow on your head? Snow accumulation on rooftops is more than a nuisance if you don’t have a radiant heated snow melting solution to protect you and your home. As the snow melts and refreezes, it creates ice dams where the repeated freezing and melting of water finds its way under roof decking and eventually into your home. Plus, large icicles not only can damage your gutters or hurt people below, but drip onto the sidewalk, causing slick, dangerous conditions.

Shoveling snow and salting the steps and walks are not always completely effective. Walking out your front door can be treacherous as you navigate slick, icy patches hiding under fresh layers of snow. Even with constant shoveling and steady applications of snowmelt chemicals, nothing can ensure the same level of safety as a radiant snow melting system.

The good news is that the same radiant heat technology in your heated driveway application can be used for roofs, stairs, ramps and more. With Warmzone roof deicing and gutter trace systems, you can eliminate ice dams and snow buildup. And these energy efficient systems are fully automated and maintenance free. Say goodbye to icicles and the steady dripping that can form slick spots on your porch or walks as the temperatures vacillate. Available in cable right off the spool, polymer panels or paper-thin “Film” heating elements, Warmzone radiant heating systems are proven industry leaders that are unobtrusive and effective. The fully-automated feature means they only activate as needed to keep your areas free of snow and ice ‘round the clock.

If you’re not ready to invest in a permanent solution, Warmzone also offers portable heated traction mats. These heated snow melting mats make it easy to enjoy the benefits of radiant heat on sidewalks, porches and even on steps. Just lay them down and plug them in. Made of non-slip rubber, they’re flexible and as durable as automobile tires, so they can withstand harsh weather and repeated use. The stair heating mats are available in rubber and aluminum.

Because radiant heated snow melting mats come in different sizes, they can also be used for walkways, kennels, porches, disability ramps and more, providing a reliable solution for slip prevention. Keep your trafficked areas free from slick ice and snow.

Whether you’re looking for an embedded snow melting solution or small, portable solutions, Warmzone has a number of great products to make your property safe and secure during winter weather. Call 888.488.9276 to learn about the many custom options for heating floors as well as exterior snow melting solutions.

Heated Tile Floors

Options for Radiant Floor Heating Systems
Warmzone offers one of the largest and most diverse selection of radiant floor heating solutions available. If you’re looking to install heated tile, hardwood or other floor types, you can be assured that Warmzone will have the ideal solution for you.

Radiant heated tile floor

Radiant floor heating is particularly well suited for warming ceramic tile floors. Tile flooring not only adds beauty and elegance to a home, but tile heats quickly and retains warmth for long periods, making a heated tile floor a very effective, energy efficient method of heating.

ComfortTile heating cable is the most highly recommended floor heating system for warming tile floors. ComfortTile floor heating cable can be purchased on spools as well as in mats. The floor heating mats feature heat cable that is pre-spaced with an adhesive-backed fiberglass mesh that can be rolled out for quick, simple installation. The 24-inch wide mats are pre-terminated for use with 120 and 240 volts, and are available in a variety of lengths. Thin metal straps are used to space cable that is purchased in lengths off a spool. The strapping is screwed into the subfloor and the cable is then secured to small eyelets/hooks at the desired space.

CT heat cable is ⅛-inch in diameter and can be installed on a variety of subfloors, including: plywood, concrete, pre-stressed concrete panels, crack isolation membrane or any floor surface compatible with the mats’ adhesive backing. Depending on your subfloor, thinset or mortar is applied directly over the heat cable, followed by the installation of the tile.

The ComfortTile floor heating system is an industry leader and comes with a 10-year warranty. ComfortTile is extremely versatile and can be used to heat virtually all types of floor surfaces, including marble, slate, laminates and hardwood.

FloorHeat and FilmHeat feature thin heating elements that require no floor buildup, making these systems ideal for heating hardwood floors. Both of these systems can be used for heating existing floors as well. If you can access the floor joists from below, then you can install these heating elements – which can be stapled up between the joists.

  • FloorHeat is a unique self-regulating, semi-conductive polyethylene heating element that can be installed directly under any material, ranging from hardwood floors to roofing.
  • RetroHeat uses a thin film heating element that is installed (stapled up) between the floor joists. Bat insulation is then stapled up over the heating element to help direct heat upwards towards the floor to heat virtually all types of floor surfaces.

Besides these great products, there are numerous benefits to radiant heat. The biggest one, of course, is the precise nature of radiant heated floors. Unlike traditional forced air systems, you can set the desired temperature in each room or zone, making radiant floor heating extremely energy efficient.

Also obvious, the health benefits that come with radiant heated floors. They don’t blow dust and allergens from vents through your home. Reliable, maintenance free radiant heated floors can be installed discreetly and easily under a variety of surfaces. And they can be easily customized to heat hard to reach areas efficiently, whether a small isolated area or your entire home.

Making the Installation of Radiant Heat Easy

“Old School” Customer Service from the Pros at Warmzone

Every time I walked across my cold kitchen floor, I reminded myself to check into the possibilities of radiant heat. I kept hearing wonderful things about how affordable and comfortable radiant heated floors are, but I’m a procrastinator. I was content to search for my slippers or brave the chill of the kitchen linoleum and tiled bathroom floors for one more winter.

Radiant floor heating mats being installed

Unfortunately, the decision to install (or not to install) radiant heat is not mine to make alone. I’m married. Now most of us guys like to pretend that we can endure a little discomfort and survive with the bare minimum in terms of home amenities, but a part of us would also like our homes to feel like a luxurious castle. And let’s face it; we want to keep our wives happy!

I’m not saying that every wife out there is a proponent of radiant heated floors, but I know that mine was constantly pushing to have heated floors installed. So finally I relented, and told her “I’d check it out.” (I figured that would buy me some more time to procrastinate.)

But it didn’t take long to find some unbiased information online. I did a few searches on the Internet and found some good information, which I read. Soon, I narrowed down a list of top radiant heat providers, and I finally ended up dealing with a company called Warmzone. Three things stuck out for me that helped me make my decision. Warmzone’s wide product selection, their customer service and installation support were big selling points for me.

The intimidation of taking on such a home improvement project was daunting, but the anxiety quickly subsided after talking with them. I wanted to leave the design and all the technical stuff in the hands of experts. I was assured that I could do much of the heat cable installation, but experts would take care of the wiring and other technical aspects. (I sure wasn’t about to take on the whole project by myself.) I felt confident with the installers and the Warmzone team. They’ve been around a long time, and I knew they wouldn’t leave until my system was up and running as advertised.

After receiving a detailed CAD design of my floors from Warmzone, I learned exactly what to expect from the system and what the power requirements would be. Then, as the installation process began, a support technician from Warmzone was on the phone, helping us every step of the way. He took his time explaining things and made sure that the installation was done properly. Warmzone personnel even stayed with us as we tested the system to make sure we were completely satisfied. Now that was “old school” customer service. Having them provide us with the most trusted system, customized for our needs, and then assisting us every step of the way after the sale was reassuring. They stayed with us from beginning to end.

It’s nice to know there are still companies out there like Warmzone. These guys care about getting the job done right. Thanks to them, my wife is happy and we’re thrilled with the warm floors. Perhaps the best part of all this is that I was able to stay within budget on this project. Thank you Warmzone.

Why Should You Use Electric Radiant Floor Heat?

If you’re going to invest in a new heating solution, you are also going to do your homework before that investment. Why should you use electric radiant floor heat versus more traditional home heating methods? Radiant floor heating works like the sun and warms the objects around it, not just the air, creating a more comforting and effective heat. This method of electric radiant floor heat is also more efficient since it can radiate heat to objects rather than cold air.

Electric radiant floor heating systems evenly distribute radiant heat throughout the floor area and gently warms the objects like furniture and curtains surrounding it. This type of system doesn’t use any blowing warmed air which cuts down on dust too. Your overall environment is healthier with less potential allergens floating around your breathing space.

Radiant floor heating has another big advantage because it distributes heat in the most dramatically efficient direction; from the bottom to the top. Heat naturally rises, and radiant floor heating systems capitalize on this simple principle. Plus it spreads the heat evenly across your flooring surface, eliminating cold pockets that just never seem to get heated. Forced air systems simply can’t compete with efficiency, heating potential, comfort, and cleanliness.

Are Radiant Heated Floors All or Nothing?

Small Spaces Shine with Radiant Floor Heat

When you tackle a home improvement project you want it to be perfect. You want to get the biggest bang for your buck, the most sophisticated designs, and obviously incredibly efficient output. That is a natural feeling as you protect one of the largest investments you’ll make; your home. Piecing little projects together here and there can be frustrating and cost a bundle in the long run.

Installing radiant heat for heated bathroom floor

Radiant floor heating may sound like an intimidating home improvement on the surface, as many people worry that they have to do all the floors in their home or nothing at all. Electric radiant heated floors actually shine in small rooms and spaces. These efficient systems are designed to add extra warmth to tiled entry ways, colder bathrooms, or eternally cool basements.

Radiant floor heating is a great way to primarily heat your home as well and can easily be done in every room of your home, but underfloor heat is definitely not an all-or-nothing type of home heating. Small spaces benefit greatly from underfloor heat simply because radiant heat can produce much more efficient heat than traditional methods of heating. Using it to heat your entire home is a smart choice as well. Radiant heat technology is more sophisticated than ever and allows the heat to penetrate each surface of your room, from the ground to the ceiling. Radiant heat allows heat to rise naturally, rather than be forced through ducts in the ceiling. Considering radiant heated floors is a big deal, but doesn’t have to be an all or nothing deal. Pick and choose the system that is right for you and enjoy heated floors in part, or in your entire home for added warmth and efficiency.

Quiet the Gentle Roar of Your Furnace

Radiant Floor Heating is Silent and Efficient

Forced air furnaces can be loud and inefficient and exacerbate allergies. People still use them and enjoy the heat they provide, but perhaps they don’t know there is a better way to heat your home. After reading this, you will be able to say that you now know about radiant floor heating and the silent, efficient ways it can heat your home. If you’ve ever wanted to quiet the gentle roar of your furnace, lower dust and cut energy costs; you might just find the answer to all those conundrums lies with radiant heated floors.

Dad and baby on heated floor

Radiant heated floors are efficient and affordable for all homeowners now. The heat cables generate radiant heat using minimal energy yet producing powerful heating output. The radiant heat warms objects in your room so the warmth permeates everything not just trying to force warm air over cold air. The heating cables are warmed beneath the surface of your floor using power, but are relatively sound free as they go about their heating business. People with radiant heated floors comment that they enjoy how silent the systems operates compared to a rushing, gushing furnace kicking out artificially heated air through inefficient ducts, often through poorly insulated parts of your home. Radiant floor heat offers silent, efficient, affordable heat.
